most of the time i feel alone in the way i percieve God
this God i know,
is love.
and we’ve heard this before.
but this love,
this love,
this love,
is not found in greeting cards,
is not found in diamond rings,
is not found under a christmas tree,
is not found in church buildings,
no
this love is far deeper.
it created the world,
in its ineffable glory,
and invited us into the shalom that was creation.
this shalom was sacred.
a sacred harmony between humans and God,
an equally sacred harmony between humans and each other,
an equally sacred harmony between humans and the earth.
and somewhere down the line
we turned it into Starbuck’s and mass graves,
commercials and atomic bombs,
air conditioning and desertification,
parking lots and prisons,
frozen pizzas and migrant workers,
monocultures and abortions.
each destroying the profundity of creation.
and yet there is a Son who says
how dare you turn my Father’s house into a market!
and overturns the tables
and so His daughter continues to turn the tables
critiquing modernity
in her own life,
and in the world.
that His kingdom would come on earth
as it is in heaven
by our hands
but His heart.
